Position Summary:
Play a key role in a fast-paced, mission-driven, non-profit Finance Office performing the duties and responsibilities generally expected of a staff accountant.

Detailed Responsibilities:
Assists, with other Finance Office staff, in the preparation and submission of accurate and timely fiscal reports and related draw- downs/invoices to agency funders. Assists with supplying information requested by auditors in an accurate and timely manner. Reviews consolidated and individual cost center actual vs. budget reports for accuracy and corrects as appropriate. Responds to questions regarding same. Prepares various revenue and expense analyses, often researching data in files and using electronic spreadsheet to detail and summarize amounts for review and/or discussion with appropriate staff and/or funders.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Bachelor’s in Accounting required. In-depth knowledge of, and skill in applying, accounting practices and techniques and generally accepted accounting principles. Ability to understand and skill in performing mathematical calculations for various journal entries (e.g. prepaid expenses, deferred revenue and revenue recognition, depreciation) and expense analyses. Ability to assess capabilities of various accounting systems and skill in applying that knowledge & understanding of them to design efficient & effective accounting processes/procedures. Expert skill in use of electronic spreadsheets (Excel), Balance Sheet and P & L analysis, strength in Access and general ledger software, Knowledge of fixed asset and depreciation management. Grant reporting /revenue recognition experience preferred

Reports to: Senior Manager of Accounting
Salary: $50,000 to $55,000 plus excellent benefits
Schedule: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
