Manager of Emergency Services
VEVRAA Federal Contractor: Priority Referrals of Protected Veterans Requested.
With guidance from the Director of Emergency Services, the Emergency Services Manager provides direct supervision and program management, training and professional development to all Residential and Case Management Staff within Emergency Shelter and Coordinators of Respite and Recovery House.
Duties and Responsibilities
Hire, train, and supervise all residential program staff, providing all necessary oversight and supervision and ensuring consistency and continuity of services rendered. Coordinate with the Greater New Haven Coordinated Access Network to accept new eligible clients. Complete regular house meetings within all Residential Programs. Complete all required reports and documentation. Collaborate with other service agencies and work with other Columbus House internal services as appropriate. Network and collaborate with the Greater New Haven CAN for all new Emergency Shelter admissions and discharges maintaining strict confidentiality concerning both program applicants and accepted clients at all times. Attend regularly scheduled supervision, team, shelter or staff meetings as requested. Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Bachelor's Degree in sociology, human services, addiction services, social work or other closely related field. Minimum of two years' experience in a supervisory role. Three or more years of direct care experience working with the homeless population. Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, teach, multitask and supervise. Complete knowledge base of all aspects of the delivery of residential services for the homeless population. Ability to work with diverse populations independently or in groups. General understanding of crisis intervention, confidentiality, boundaries, universal precautions. Able to foster a Harm Reduction philosophy within the work environment; strong empathic skills. Ability to work with improvement teams and foster teamwork. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong computer skills. Strong written and oral communication skills. Valid drivers' license with a good driving history and daily access to an automobile.

Salary: Negotiable based on education and experience plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Monday thru Friday 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with some flexibility
