Job Posting: Per Diem Respite Assistants
FLSA Non-Exempt, Essential
VEVRAA Federal Contractor: Priority Referrals of Protected Veterans Requested
To provide supervision, support and occasional transportation to homeless clients in need of temporary 24/7 shelter while they recuperate from recent medical procedures.
Individual(s) must have demonstrated the ability to manage, motivate and direct homeless or at-risk clients; must have time management and organizational skills; must have a complete knowledge base of all aspects of the delivery of residential services for the homeless population; must be aware of mental health, substance abuse, and dual diagnosis issues as well as local housing and vocational/entitlement programs; knowledgeable of the area network providers; must be a high school graduate or equivalent; CNA and CPR preferred, computer literate and/or able/willing to learn; must be culturally competent; must possess the capacity to work within a team and foster teamwork; must have a general understanding of crisis intervention skills, confidentiality, boundaries, universal precautions; able to foster a Harm Reduction philosophy within the work environment; strong empathic skills. Must be reliable and punctual and ready, willing and able to perform essential functions during unusual weather and other events/emergencies. Driver's license and good driving record required.
Attend/share all required CHI and network meetings; complete all required reports; maintain hourly logs; Help move client belongings as necessary. Tidy rooms as clients leave, ensuring rooms are well prepared for new admissions in concert with maintenance staff. Remain on-site to perform essential functions during emergency situations as designated by Executive Director. Provide transportation with agency vehicle to clients on as-needed basis.
Supervised by: Emergency Services Manager
Pay: $12.65/hr., no benefits
Schedule: On-call only for 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts as needed 7 days per week.
