Many thanks to all who made our Wallingford Emergency Shelter Open House a success!

It was rather brisk the morning of October 26, 2018, but that didn’t stop 100 compassionate attendees from gathering in support of our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness in Wallingford. The Open House was held at Columbus House’s Wallingford Emergency Shelter that comprises four, two-bedroom townhouses for families who are experiencing homelessness and a seasonal shelter for single adults during the coldest months of the year. Thanks to our sponsors, guests, task force, volunteers, and speakers – including Mayor William Dickinson, Jr. and Chris Ulbrich of Ulbrich Stainless Steels & Special Metals, Inc., the morning was a great success. A delicious breakfast was donated by several local businesses, moving speeches were made about homelessness and the efforts to end this crisis in Wallingford, and staff gave tours of the family and seasonal shelters. Over $19,000 was raised, allowing Columbus House to continue offering services that help end homelessness such as access to benefits, connections to healthcare, job training, case management, and, most importantly, help in finding a safe, affordable home. Thank you to all!
