Emergency Overflow Shelter Program Coordinator


Temporary Position: November 16, 2020 to May 1, 2021


Purpose
To provide program coordination and supervision to residential staff located at the Emergency Overflow Shelter for men and the Hamden Seasonal Warming Center and case management support to Overflow shelter clients.


Duties and Responsibilities
Hire, train, supervise and schedule all emergency shelter residential staff. Oversee volunteers as needed. Attend/share all required Columbus House and social service network meetings; complete all required reports and logs; evaluate supervised staff; oversee intake, departures, and daily roster and programs; work in concert with and under the guidance of the Senior Manager of Outreach and Engagement; maintain flexible schedule. Complete case management responsibilities to Overflow shelter clients by connecting them to housing and other resources, complete data elements and reports into HMIS. Other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Job Requirements
Valid Driver’s License, Associates degree in human services related field, two year’s work experience in the human services field as a supervisor, computer literate and physically able to move independently throughout the facility and the city of New Haven. Must be reliable and punctual.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Able to learn Homeless Management Information System data collection software program; have knowledge of the greater New Haven substance abuse, mental health and social services network of providers; empathetic engagement skills; cultural competencies; life training and group skills. Must be reliable, punctual and able to maintain client confidentiality while respecting proper relationship boundaries; must be able and willing to accept direction and guidance from supervisors and be experienced managing staff.


Supervised by: Senior Manager of Outreach and Engagement
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday thru Friday 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., some weekend duty
