Human Resources Specialist
VEVRAA Federal Contractor: Priority Referrals of Protected Veterans Requested
With guidance from the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Specialist contributes to the implementation of HR services; policies, and procedures and assists agency managers with HR related issues. Supports human resources processes by conducting entry level position interviews; scheduling appointments; conducting orientations; maintaining records and information and acting as payroll back-up for the Human Resources Administrator.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Must be committed to the Columbus House mission of serving the homeless and at-risk population. Two years of increasingly responsible technical or administrative experience in personnel administration activities and human resources preferred. Bachelor’s degree with course work in business, human resources, personnel management, or closely related field required. Significant related experience may substitute for education. Highly organized, highly motivated, excellent reporting skills, ability to maintain employee files, superior interpersonal skills with a strongly developed respect for confidentiality, computer skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced human services organization. Strong proficiency with Excel preferred. ADP payroll knowledge and experience a plus but training for this function will be provided.
Assists with job analysis and the creation/updating of job descriptions and recruitment announcements. Substantiates applicants' qualifications by reviewing resumes and comparing to job specifications. Conducts telephone pre-screening; schedules interviews and coordinates appointments and completes background checks. Welcomes new employees to the organization by conducting orientation. Provides payroll backup, assists with administering employee benefits, tracks ongoing employee company policy requirements, collects time and attendance records. Submits employee data reports by assembling, preparing, and analyzing data. Maintains employee information by entering and updating employment and statuschange data electronically. Provides administrative support by, formatting, and printing information; organizing work; answering the telephone; and relaying messages. May engage in human resource related research. Maintains Affirmative Action and training-related records. Attends assigned meetings and trainings; other related duties as assigned.

Salary: Negotiable depending on education and experience; excellent benefits
Schedule: Mon. – Fri. 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, flexible
