Transportation Manager

Purpose
To provide overall program coordination and staff management to the drivers of the Road to Recovery statewide transportation program serving clients of DMHAS funded agencies and to ensure the proper maintenance and scheduled use of all agency vehicles.


Duties and Responsibilities
Hire, train, supervise, evaluate and schedule Road to Recovery (R2R) staff; efficiently coordinate the resources of a multi-location vehicle pool; schedule agency pool vehicle use. Ensure the maintenance and care of all vehicles in conjunction with Facilities Director. Attend/share all required CHI and network meetings; negotiate transportation approvals with grantor, clinician, and clients; be the “face” of Columbus House to the public regarding transportation; complete all required reports; adhere to budgetary restrictions especially overtime management; work in concert with management staff from other departments; be prepared to act as back-up driver as needed. Maintain maintenance database; work to ensure that vehicles receive routine maintenance and as needed repair; schedule vehicles to assure they stay within contracted mileage restrictions; collect, evaluate, and make recommendations on mileage sheets; calculate mileage costs; oversee vehicle sign-out process with agency staff; maintain and update computer tracking of all transports. Serve as a back-up driver should scheduled drivers not be available.


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
B.A. or three years of experience working in a social service agency; valid Driver’s license and a favorable driving record a must. Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, teach, network and coordinate; time management and organizational skills; excellent customer service skills; knowledgeable in the areas of mental health, substance abuse, and dual diagnosis issues as well as knowledge of the area network providers is preferred; computer literate; capacity to work within a team and foster teamwork; general understanding of crisis intervention skills, confidentiality, boundaries, universal precautions; able to foster a Harm Reduction philosophy within the work environment; strong empathic skills.


Supervised by: Chief Real Estate officer
Salary: Negotiable depending on education and experience; excellent benefits
Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday thru Friday, on-call for telephone coordination during weekend hours as needed.
